Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (22)

give a small gift1

This is what the world needs today - a token of concern to show that somehow you care. Giving just a small gift no matter how invaluable it may seem means so much to someone who is having a terrible day. Gift value doesn’t matter be it a cute little angel, a candy or bookmarks. The important thing is that you are letting the person feel that someone is there for him.

The gift of caring is so much important now a days when the world is full stressful factors, when people seem out of reach because of problems. Now that Christmas is almost here, be able to share your blessings. Small stuffs become big to someone who really need the attention and utmost care.  Be a blessing to someone.

Doodles are fun to do. They are not just for kids. Everyone can make doodles. You don’t have to be an artist to make one. Why not incorporate them in your projects be it birthday, personalized cards, greetings, scrap books etc. Give it some creative touch and I know for sure your doodle will make some one happy.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (20)

There has always been something magical about stars. They are some sort of little fairies in the night sky. Maybe that’s why kids look upon them during the night and watch for falling stars thinking that they are flying fairies, who will grant their wishes. Well, maybe  fairies hear wishes even from grown-ups. So, make a loving wish upon a star. Believe that your wish will be fulfilled.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (19)

everyday notes to enjoy life 19

Gone are the days when you use pen and paper to send your thoughts and misses to your friends. Gone are the days when you pour out your emotions and feelings to a friend with ink and fibers. Gone are the days when you use your own handwriting, your own creative ways when you want to tell your friend that you haven't forgotten him or her. And gone are the days when friends excitedly await from the postman when your next letter will arrive.

It's a sad thing to note that the old beautiful ways has been replaced by fast but less poignant technology driven emails, sms and the like. Internet have made your friends seem closer because of faster conveyance of messages but it is still quite meaningful if a friend receives a real letter handwritten by you, sent and sealed by your own hands and not by 1's and 0's.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (18)

I do a lot of stretching every morning, before going to work. It wakes me up. It’s a warm-up exercise before meeting the world full of stress and worries. Stretching stirs-up those slumbering muscles, bones and ligaments. Do it as a daily morning routine. It helps to prep you up before heading out for work.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (17)

It's a good piece of advice. Well who knows. Your dog might know a better joint that's more exciting. You'll never know. But for a change, let go of the wheel. Let someone else drive for a while and take the back seat and enjoy the view. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of life. And you'll realize what you've been missing. Start by walking your dog. Then let your dog walk you. Then let somebody else lead your way. Before you know it, you're already having fun, having an adventure, enjoying a life like no other.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (16)

I remember camping out when I was a kab scout when I was in elementary. We were in an open field so you can see the whole dark sky field with stars. We built camp fire, we played games, we had fun.

When you're under the night sky, under the stars, it feels like you have all the time in the world, it feels like you own the world. It's like you can do anything without any limits, no boundaries. Everything is boundless. It seems like you're all alone inside a dome shimmered by the twinkling lights of stars. Let your fantasy and imagination dwindle among the stars and for sure you'll feel like you have traveled somewhere you have never been before.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (15)

The mailman, newspaper boy, delivery man, plumber or anyone who would bring their service into your own backyard will be delighted if shown gratitude and well appreciated for their services. Even just an ice cold glass of water will suffice. Make your home their oasis during their rounds in the community.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (14)

This should be one of the best breaks from the usual sleep and lie down ritual we do in our rooms. You may wonder sometimes not to find some of your stuffs only to realize that they are just there lying dormant on one of the corners of your room. To rid yourself of the clutters and junks in your room, why not make it a hobby to clean and "de-organize" your once web-cluttered abode. You'll be surprised to find out what's hiding there. It could be a long-lost memorabilia, or a long-forgotten keepsake.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (13)

Was there a time when your boss noticed your good work or accomplishments? Or perhaps a good old neighbor noticing your orhids which you have painstakingly labored for them to grow wonderful flowers. It feels great, right? There's a feeling of satisfaction inside you, even though there isn't any material rewards. In fact an honest, sincere praise is worth more than any rewards. Somehow it lifts your moods. It keeps you on your goals. It motivates you to work even harder and it gives you a sense of pride. You would feel elated that someone appreciated you.

Praising is like putting someone in a higher pedestal without lifting a finger. The problem is that, some people find it easier to look for the flaws. Because it's much fun and amusing to gossip about other's imperfections. These people are selfish. They are jealous. And they hide their dark pride by resenting others.

Praise someone. "Lift him up" and you'll find a pleasant reward in return.

Everyday Notes to Enjoy Life (12)

It's been awhile since my last post on this series. And now it's back after a deep slumber.

I am a conservative, old-fashioned, extremely plain guy when it comes to choosing clothes. My taste for fashion has not changed for the last decade, same color, same style, same get-up. I am a bit picky when it comes to what I wear. I always pick those that I have been accustomed to use. My wife has been trying to influence my fashion taste. She's been trying to reboot my image. In fact this Father's day, she gave me a really cool T-shirt and I really love the fit. It's a great feeling to reinvent yourself sometimes and I appreciate my wife's effort for helping me out. So be adventurous on what you wear. It creates better confidence and adds self-esteem.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (11)

It's a new year. Bountiful blessings were showered to us last year. Either we caught some or not, we've had the opportunity. That alone is a good reason to be thankful.

To show a small gratitude to those who made the difference in our lives is quite admirable. Why not stop for a while and show a little appreciation to all those who have helped. Send a simple thank you note to them who have extended assistance and in some ways have provided comfort. But before everyone else, thank God for His wonderful blessings.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (10)

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary. As one of my presents to my wife, I especially composed a poem for her. It's just a simple one but she holds it dearly to her heart because it came from mine.

I am not really much into poetry and maybe so are you. But if its for someone who is very special, someone you really care about and someone you love very much, you'd form the words and rhymes from your mind and heart right away.

So don't let those wonderful thoughts just linger in your minds and just drift away, write and mould them into beautiful poems. They are the perfect gifts for someone you care.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (9)

Laughter is the best medicine so they say.

I envy the kids. They live in a world of games, and plays and laughter. A world virtually free of problems and stress. A world of fun and a world of dreams. How I miss my childhood days.

The world is full of irony. When we were young we want to grow fast and pretend to be adults. And now that we are all grown-ups, we want to go back being children. I never grew tired watching cartoons or playing games. It's fun being a kid at heart. Now that I have a child, I can play every kid's game that I want. And it's so much fun, fooling around specially with your own kid. True, stress and work have eaten up our adult life but never be ashamed to admit that we want to be children again. So be a kid again and be unmindful of the things around you, play around and laugh out loud.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (8)

I love to eat. Who doesn't? But do you like to cook? I do. However I just am not that good at it without my good old recipe book or magazine for that matter. Cooking is fun just as blogging is. When I cook, sometimes I imagine myself as a scientist or chemist if you may. Concocting different ingredients, trying different formulas then experimenting the final result unto yourself, by tasting it. Now wasn't that fun?

Life is like cooking. You've got to try and experiment other recipes, methods and ingredients so as not to bore your taste buds. You may love the change or not. You may like the new recipe or not. But the sure thing is, you'll learn something new out of this experience. It may be an improvement or it may be a mistake. Either way it will add to your skill in cooking. Just like in life. No risk, no gain.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (7)

For a change, why not spread good news instead of the usual headlines bannered by newspapers everyday bearing all the attrocities, disasters, and miseries of the world. It's very sad to note that the dailies, sidetrack all the good news in just a narrow section of their pages. Well it's obvious that such headlines would not sell newspapers because people tend to read unsound news.

However if you happen to know a good news and relate it to anyone I'm sure they'll be glad to listen. Sometimes it's a breather to hear the better side of the world.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (6)

As we were shaken up by an unfortunate event recently, I think this Everyday Note is most appropriate at this very moment. But somehow our prayers are most needed now by those we really don't know. The people who were caught in the eye of the blast. The people who were innocently walking, passing thru or having a great time and were unaware of their fate.

The blast has taken 11 lives and hundreds of injured victims.

Hope you can spare a little moment for them too....

Everyday notes to enjoy life (5)

Most of the time we are afraid to let ourselves get involved. We think of ourselves first before doing something. We first think of our own comfort. We ask so many "what if's" to preserve our own safety. I do heard of people getting hurt not because they wanted to be heroes or something but because they are concerned. Nobody asked us to be heroes. It's just a matter of choice. Either you step up to make a difference or you don't.

Reaching out to a streetkid makes a very big difference. Letting him know that you care means giving him hope. And giving him hope means creating an opportunity for him to grow up into a better person. That would mean lesser risk for him to grow up into someone you will regret later.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (4)

Being shy as I am sometimes hamper my ability to make friends. It's a real deal of effort for me to reach out and talk to someone I've just met. I'm too conscious about what to say, how to act, what to talk about. It's something that I have been wanting to overcome for a long time.

I envy people who don't have this kind of "impairment". So if you're one of those I envy, heed this fourth installment. Make friends. Who knows, you may encounter some of "us" and may help us to reach out and make friends easily in the process.

Everyday notes to enjoy life (3)

Lessons usually come from mistakes committed. Lessons in life usually from experiences. Nobody has the better conviction to impart better wisdom than they who have experienced life's intricacies.

I never had the chance to meet my grandfathers. They were long gone before I was born. But my grandmothers, they are the ones whom I was able to communicate with as I was growing up. They were great storytellers. I can imagine reliving their experiences on how they survived the war, how they raised my parents, how they lived the world without formal education. They were so metaphorical that sometimes I could not understand what they were talking about. But I've learned a lot from them. And I owe it to them, and my parents, everything that I am reaping now.
